Self Portrait Revisited

Some of the self portraits I had done over a period of five years. It is good to look back and once again cherish the joy of playing and experimenting with Photoshop. "Self" is a changing property. It is not who we think we are, but what we can become. In a way, it is a paradox, because "self" is never "in itself" but often resides outside "itself"--according to M. Bakhtin, an "outsideness". It is a negotiated entity between those who perceive and the consciousness being perceived. The ownership is ambiguous, or multiple.

Education

"But an attempt is also made to assure the quality of the time used: constant supervision, the pressure of supervisors, the elimination of anything that might disturb or distract. . . Precision and application are, the fundamental virtues of disciplinary time."---Foucault.
